European Day of Languages


At the initiative of the Council of Europe, the European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year since 2001. On the occasion of the day, a range of events are organised across Europe.

Fulfilling the mission of EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture – to promote European values and to contribute to cultural diversity inside and outside of the EU through collaboration between European cultural institutes with the aim of expanding the role of culture in Europe and to strengthen cultural dialogue, exchange and sustainable cooperation worldwide – EUNIC Turkey, created in 2012, invites all to celebrate this special day, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey..

The event will take place on the 2nd of October, at the premises of Çankaya Municipaty Contemporary Art Center (Çağdas Sanatlar Merkezi), in the heart of Ankara, starting at 10 a.m.

Throughout the day, several activities, organized by the participating countries and its cultural institutes – Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland – will take place to mark the European Day of Languages: language lessons, talks, exhibitions, information tables of the participating countries and much more.
